Here is audio of interest that sounds a lot like your Oregon link:
The Chehalis Screamer.
Its on Youtube and for some reason my link function isn't working right. Google will get you there.
Scrub fwd to 4:30ish and note the laughter that follows the scream. It sounds damn identical to me. No idea whats making that creepy racket but it frightened the poor old folks who captured audio for us. Hats off! Think its the same species as in the Oregon clip?

I guess this is the link, but it's not the original: www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkCy6uqcGXEIt sounds like the exact same creature. Thanks for the info. ISK8pdFrmaLab - what a great handle. Made my day. ROTF...

Holy cow! I never even once made the connection until you guys posted those links! They're the same type of call, as if it's the same species but a different creature. Now these videos have some credence to them.
It's like the "laughing" is like a yip crossed with a bark followed by a "scream". The scream on its own (in my opinion), I can imagine someone describing that as a woman screaming.
Thanks very much for those links!

Most welcome. Wanna creep yourself out really well? Turn off the lights and use a big set of full headphones to listen to those vids. Eeeeh.

Lol I think I did that once! I used to go trail running and hiking all the time in the woods when I lived in the country, yet never believed in these things. I always used to wish that when I was on the road with someone driving at night that something like a werewolf would jump over the road and vanish in a mysterious way. I had no idea then that that was exactly what's been happening to people.
Saying that it's probably a good thing I didn't know since I'd be out even more looking for it!

Thanks AG47!
Simetimes it feels like I DO NEED to escape from the"lab of my career. Indentured servitude is more like it.
By the way, is your handle on the periodic chart? Silver? Or am I just overnerding it?
I found the audio comparison totally by chance a few nights ago between the Oregon cackler and the Chehalis screamer, doing a little late night research and geekery. When that hyenalike laughter emerged at 4:30 timestamp, I about fell out of my chair. Thank you all for hearing what I thought might be worth taking up a few notches to the right folks.
As in, us.

I know what you mean! When I listened to the videos and heard the similarities I said out loud "They're the same creature!" and it was a total Eureka! moment.
