Nice find Donald! Poor woman, that's a real shame. Strange how they can't ID the animal, only that the DNA appears Canid.

Thank you Donald for sharing this information! I saw this and thought the same thing! Unknown canine DNA??? Really makes you think looking back at all the reports where a pack of dogs were to blame for numerous deaths... I have come across packs of feral dogs where I work and yes, they can be intimidating and show no fear of humans, and I am positive if provoked or extremely hungry, they could attack a human, but then the DNA would be easily identified as canine. This story really makes you think and realize without a doubt, there are creatures out there that definitely exist. When I read her unfortunate and horrific story, my gut instinct said Dogman was the culprit.

I'm curious as to why they can't determine as to whether or not the DNA is specifically wolf, coyote or domestic dog. They are saying its definitely not Wolf, but then are also saying that the DNA hasn't positively been identified at the same time, only that its canine. I'm not trying to read more into this than it is, and it could absolutely be a domestic dog, wolf or coyote, but it just seems odd to me. Rabid animals do frequently attack people as well, but in most cases they usually go the other way rather than interact with people or other animals, even when ill. I'm hoping they come up with some definitive information on this one and not just let it "go away" after some time goes by like some other similar incidents.

It's noteworthy for sure but do you people recall some of the other cases involving suspicious 'unknown canines'? They all seemed to suggest far greater savagery and trauma at the scene. This is definitely interesting but it lacks those qualities (at least on the basis of those articles)
What do you think?

I have some friends in that area. They were telling me that they took their dogs over there and they wouldn't track. Just stayed up around the road. The area is super thick with lots of ditches and sloughs.

Sounds like the dogs licked her wounds to me. How the heck can't they figure out what killer her? I'd have thought canines, being mans best friend and all, would have some good DNA studies done on them.

Con, that makes sense. They could have contaminated the scene with their dna.

That's what I'm getting, since they said the dogs were fine when they watched them, I can only guess that the dogs were licking the woman afterwards. If that's the case, poor dogs almost getting put down over that, thankfully the investigators here seem to be doing some good work.

Does anyone remember the bizzare missing411 case of Casey Hathoway the little boy in NC who went missing from the back yard only to be found days later having told his parents a large bear looked after him? This was winter in NC gets pretty freezing. This case reminds me of how the reports make you wonder what really is behind the event. I heard a sherrif give there own dogman encounter on Vic Cundiffs "Dogman Encounter Radio" she said that the approval of any news that comes from a public report must be approved for release by someone above the police chain of command. So I highly doubt there would be approval to release Dogman attacked anyone though that is probably what happened here. Honestly the public has a right to know I think.

I don't really like the person that said this, but he is correct. "Your responsibility to be ready for the fight, never ends". Wild dogs or otherwise. What a terrible way to go.
