I am not a tracker, and would like an honest opinion of a tracker to tell me if they think this is a dogman track or a bunch of hog tracks that make it look like a large dog track, it is approximately 5-6 inches in diameter. Found this in Sam Houston National Forest Last week, third day of bow season.

Were there other animal tracks in the area? What breeds of wolf are found in the park? My thought is that all of us who are Field Investigators should carry a measurement tool for photography and a pack of all-in-one casting material with us for just these type of circumstance.

Also a better than average photo, and I like that. Thank you.

The ground was dry except for this lower part that kind of looked like a rut from a car or off road vehicle which was of darker color, showing signs that it had water in it that dried up. I don't know anything about what kind of wolves could be in that forest, and I am not a researcher, don't carry a tape but will start to do that from now on. I might even go back and measure the tracks, because now that I uploaded the photo and started looking at it, I see that there may be a fourth toe off to the left that I was unaware of, so this would put the track much larger than I thought it was, I just did not want to exaggerate on the size. There is a possibility the track is still there.
I do not know what that white stuff was on the ground.
There were some human boot tracks and some hog or deer tracks but hard to tell because this was the only moist area that a clear track could be left.

On the right hand photo you can see a lot of tracks and the one in front of my foot was the better track, but there is also another one on the left side going in the opposite direction that is identical to the right side track, now there was other human tracks there, so maybe this was made by multiple foot steps in the same spot, but I am not a tracker and do not know much about tracks.
I went back 2 days later and all tracks were gone. These tracks are on sand.
I had been getting wood knocks on 2 occasions in this area, and once was what sounded like rocks hitting each other, but mostly when I am leaving the woods at night, on one occasion it was only about 25 feet from me, another occasion with the rocks it was right where I was hanging out in the woods that I heard the rocks hitting each other, I went back the next day and hit a few rocks together but could only make a sound about 1/10 of the volume or loudness.
Don't know what it means when they knock to you right when you are leaving the wood line?

If you do a search online for police investigation equipment they will have photo markers at probably 10 or 12 dollars. Small and handing. They’ll so will have all in one casting material.

They are in sand, right on the side of a creek, but in a very hard to get to location I had to walk across some downed tree roots that went over the water area a little ways in order to get there, but I did see human tracks there. I heard some really weird sounds from a dog coming from that direction a few days earlier, it sounded like a dog at first then turned into a moan, and I still did not think anything unusual about it, until a little later as it started to sound like it might not have been a dog at all, just really strange, like nothing I heard before. There is a house down that way though but I never heard a dog bark or anything coming from that area, and never have since.
I guess what made me think this might be real is the other track on left is the same. and the way the sand is pushed up around the arch but up higher closer to the ball of the foot, but another weird thing is the heels seem to be more pointed than rounded.

Could you email me the original 1st generation photos of mud and sand without any alterations (enhancement, color space, size, cropping, etc)? You can send them to eoinstewart.nadp@gmail.com. Just want to take a peek. Thank you!

I want to thank you very much for taking the time to look at my images, i went to another forum and posted my BF tracks and no one even made a comment on them. Of course we all want to believe that our tracks are real, but I am an honest person and expect for you to be also, and tell me your honest opinion about them. I have always wanted to be a tracker, I started hunting at six years old, but mostly water foul, spent most of my free time hunting, in the woods and farm land, but never took any tracking classes.

This certainly seems to have the characteristics of a canine track. Nice photo! For the record I do not think it is a collection of hog tracks. Too bad there isn't anything for scale. The other photos look like boot tracks with some heel shuffle to me, but maybe there were questionable attributes that aren't apparent in the photos.

Ok thank you whitefeather, I appreciate your time in looking at my tracks, and will perhaps even go back and see if I can find more, and will this time bring a tape measure or at least lay a dollar bill down on the ground and also bring some casting material.
I don't know if that track is still there, but it could be and I might be able to find another one. I have to say that this section of the woods does not give me a good feeling and am a little reluctant to return, but right now we are in rifle season for deer and if I go back I will be well armed.
Sorry I did not take a size reference but can assure you it is far larger than any dog or wolf print. It is because of this print that I came here to the forum.

dogflabber, No reason at all to be sorry.
Now I really want to see a photo of that track with something for scale.
A while back I posted about my own experience with a place in the woods that didn't feel "right". If you happen to read it, please share any similarities with this location.
Thanks
