Hello-
I will be planning a trip outdoors and would like to rent a remote cabin (sturdy remote cabin) and also wanting to set-up trail cams to see what I can capture. I've heard about dogman and bigfoot and find them intriguing, the loch ness monster and bigfoot have captured my imagination since I've been a kid. My dad recently has found this stuff online and I wanted to reach out and inquire where are people mainly having these encounters?
I've done some research online and found a lot of the stories to be less than credible/believable although there are some testimonies that ring true and the person does sound very genuine. I've watched a lot of the howtohunt.com videos on Youtube and find that to be credible considering he has been a big game hunting guide for many years. The point is I'm taking a trip sometime this spring and would like to head out somewhere remote where these things are known to be. I'm not trying to hunt one at all nor am I interested in even trying to encounter one face-to-face; simply trying to enjoy my time in the woods and be prepared with a camera (and large caliber firearms). Until someone gets one of these things with a clear shot on their camera it's hard for me to believe especially with all the encounters on the internet.
My plan is to find a remote cabin then stage a camping site with a tent, fire, sleeping bag, etc and see what game comes up to the tent at night. I would have cameras set-up in strategic spots to see if any deer, hogs or whatever investigates at night. The camping site would be well away from the cabin and made to look like people are actually staying there. I wanted input on where would be good locations to do this at? LBL, Daniel Boone National Forest, Michigan, Northern Wisconsin have come up but I'm looking for more specific areas.
My background: I hunted from age 5-25, I'm currently in my early thirties. I've shot large caliber guns all my life and coon hunted from when I was a kid through 25. Hunted many nights alone in the woods chasing dogs and skinning coons in the timber. I live in Iowa and have never had anything truly un-explainable happen in the woods but since there is not large timber around here I'm not surprised. I have all different kinds of firearms- AK, AR-10, 12 gauge, .454 Casull and 9mm. I carry these for personal protection and obviously going on a remote trip to the timber I would have some of these along regardless for bear, mountain lion, etc.
Feedback is appreciated!
