Hi everyone!
I'm a younger guy that has been really interested in Dogmen for at least 5 years now. I've listened to and read many, many encounters. However, I haven't heard of many (or really none, truth being told) encounters of Dogmen in New Jersey. This often puzzles me, considering the further south you go in the state, the better of a habitat it provides for these creatures. For example, I live in Southern New Jersey. Here, we have the Pine Barrens. The Pine Barrens is a large, expansive patch of woods that comprises of fifth of that state. I know NJ isn't huge, but lets be honest, that is still a large amount of land! We have plenty of deer and other wild life too, so there is an ample food supply too. I don't know, maybe I'm giving it too much thought. I just don't hear about many encounters here. Any who, do any of you have thoughts? Or perhaps you guys can point me in the right direction? Thanks!

I've camped some in the Pine Barrens/Wharton SP, Seems like perfect habitat IMO also. The PB have it all--forest, food, water and plenty of visiting humans to terrorize, which seems to be where DM like to be--in proximity to "civilization" but with cover. I can't offer any explanation as to why reports from NJ are lacking, though I have not specifically gone looking for encounter incidents from there. Plenty of Jersey Devil stories-many just that but other sightings possibly a DM?? Hard to say. A canoe might be a good way to investigate there, bushwhacking in from the Mullica, don't know if you're into that sort of thing...Have you looked at Linda Godfrey's books? I'll check the one I have later for incidents in NJ. And Welcome BTW!

It appears the 2 reports from NJ in Godfrey's Real Wolfmen are taken from Weird New Jersey magazine and she did not interview the witnesses directly. The first was three teenagers in East Hanover seeing what they first thought was an injured deer in a church parking area til it leapt up and ran off on 2 legs "arms" at its side. The other, a road crossing seen by 2 EMTs in Bayonne near the turnpike ramp off of Montgomery st. She's written quite a few books, perhaps with a better selection. Maybe someone else can chime in if they have a different title.
