I have a question that I'd appreciate your members input on. Recently I had an extremely traumatic Dogman sighting that has left me shaken to the core. Thank Christ,(literally) that I haven't seen another one but I lie awake at night full of adrenaline at the typical night noises. Regardless my problem at the moment is twofold; I do not have a firearm nor can I get one at the moment because I'm taking sedatives and sleeping pills as well as pain medication for Lupus. In socialist California where I live this makes me ineligible to purchase even a long gun. My question is what can I do to protect myself in lieu of a firearm. The other issue is I'm on disability which doesn't even pay enough for food for a month let alone other neccesities. Does anyone have a very inexpensive weapon they could recommend for me? I have a spearhead that screws onto a broomstick and a 14 inch Bowie knife as well as bear spray that is out of date. I'm also worried of simply enraging these creatures since I've been told they hold a grudge. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Excellent question, since we don't know what DM really is. California is a physically beautiful place, but politically it appears to be very unfriendly to any kind of self-defense, sort of leaning toward the UK. I recall reading of people in the UK who ended up going to jail for defending themselves against physical assault (I guess they're supposed to just stand there and wait to be killed). This is the kind of b.s. law people have been gradually brainwashed into thinking makes them safer (like the "NO GUNS ALLOWED" signs). Found this: www.wklaw.com/practice-areas/manufacture-sale-or-possession-of-generally-prohibited-weapons-california-pc-16590/---------- Generally speaking, if I had the money to build a new home for myself it would be entirely different than what we accept as a 'normal' residence. I would think privacy and fortification, not just in the structure, but in the landscape and the property where I would put it. When l am lying in bed at night I often think of how easy it would be for an animal (or person) to bust through a window and be on me in seconds. In my dream house, I would not want that to be possible. Windows would have to be something different, either fortified glass, and/or positioned strategically and securable (metal bars or shutters, maybe - in Florida, lots of people have bars on their windows, but you have to think of escape in a fire or other emergency). I would not want my house close to or in the woods. I would not want my house visible from a public road. Sorry this doesn't really address your question, but it's food for thought. From your post, you are in no financial shape to relocate, just like I'm also not. ----------- I would think fortification and prayer. Not putting my beliefs on others, that's just me. I think there are a lot of doors (portals?) being opened, and evil things being invoked by people today either through ignorance, or even deliberately because it's all a game to them which they think they can control..... until it isn't. Like one priest said (paraphrased), "People want to take evil out of the box and examine it, but once it's out it can be exceedingly difficult to get it back in the box." I believe that is true, whatever faith you are or are not. I think from historical accounts, DM has been around for a long long time (called by various names). I do not think they are our friends. They may be restrained from doing certain things ..... until they are not restrained. ----------- Nothing in this post shall be construed as legal advice.

Hello Dreamer, By all accounts I've read or listened to, it seems these creature thrive on terrifying people and they seem content with that. Of course dead men, or women tell no tales. You've had an encounter and have a better sense than any of us that haven't regarding their intent to harm or not. As far as defenses go, the witness i just spoke with briefly believes as you do, that it was her faith in Jesus Christ that got them through. On the more corporeal side of things, I've heard of them being shot with 12ga shotguns(no load mentioned), 4 times with a 45-70 center mass, which can pack a real wallop if one of the hot loads are used and another extreme account of a military type assault with hits taken by many small arms and finally a .338 lapua to disperse but not kill the thing(immediately anyway). If any of the above is true, I'd say don't worry about weapons that work on this plane, it's probably a bad idea. Can you legally own a spiked tomahawk? Hellbent Holler used the term atavistic to describe them, perhaps of little practical value but the hindbrain like the idea of holding a sharp spiked or bladed weapon. I have one and keep the blade in a scabbard dusted with ash of the Mountain Ash tree as it is well regarded by Jinn and werwolf hunters of old for driving them into submission. Elliott has a good bit to say on the matter: www.gutenberg.org/files/26629/26629-h/26629-h.htm

I really appreciate your folks input. As I say I have SOG spearhead screwed onto a broomstick which I keep beside my bed and a knife. I was wondering your folks opinion on a burning laser. I know there not that cheap but what do you think about trying to blind one of these creatures? Obviously it would be a last resort type thing but I wouldn't want to get slashed apart by an enraged werewolf. I can't use a sonic weapon either since I live in an apartment building. I also thought of a crossbow. Do you folks have any input as to the pros/cons of the weapons I mentioned above. I also thought perhaps a realistic looking air pistol but if these things can read minds as some accounts suggest do you think it is possible the DM could know that it's basically a toy. My main form of defense is prayer and some nights I literally pray all night. Does anybody think holy water could work. I was listening to Art Bell who had a Priest on and he said that if a person is "perfectly possessed", neither an exorcism, not holy water would do anything presumably since they have no humanity or good left in them. Anyway I'm sorry to be so long winded and desperate sounding but this creature has turned my world upside down. In fact at times I wonder if I'm shizophrenic or something. Any input or advice would again be greatly appreciated. God bless you folks. Thank you.

Keep this in mind: You had an encounter 20yrs? ago was it, That is an EXTREMELY rare thing to have witnessed. Odds of it happening again are very, very, slim to darn near, if not absolutely, ZERO. Don't lose sleep over the thought of another run-in. Maybe even best not to dwell in places like this forum if you are that distressed by the thought, anxieties shouldn't be fed that way. As no one can say what the DM is, it's hard to give advice regarding protection. If your faith is important, by all means holy water, maybe even crossbow bolts stored in a bottle of it? But again, I wouldn't shoot one of these things, probably a bad idea in the very highly unlikely event of a re-occurring scenario.
If you can, what is the general circumstance, without going into details in which your sighting occurred? At home? suburbs? rural? Wilds? Road crossing?

The Bible says in many places "DO NOT BE AFRAID", "YOU WERE NOT GIVEN A SPIRIT OF FEAR" etc... I think dogman is quite possibly just ONE of the reasons for this. The baddies on the "other side" feed on our fear... So do not fear... Like vic says, if it wants you, it can have you... I don't really believe that EXACTLY. I do believe in the higher power that is restraining these things, but without that yeah, all the guns in the world aint gonna save you. Forget edged weapons, lasers and whatever else. Would any of that work on an angry bear? NOPE. And like troll said, it's been 20 years... Here's some food for thought... Why would it bother to scare the hell out of you AGAIN? It's been 20 years and yet here you are, still scared to death of it... no return visit necessary.... mission accomplished. I don't mean that in a mean way, but honestly, this entity has you right where he wants you, disempowered, afraid, weakened, not living to your full potential. So if there are these things on the other side, the good guys are on the other side physically restraining them and protecting you too. That's faith. But the good guys can't control your free will. Fear is a choice. Faith is a choice. It's our choice. For me, my choice is Jesus Christ. These things hate us and mess with us because we bear the image of our Father, and they're pissed off because they know they lose in the end. The end was told from the beginning, our Champion crushes the head of theirs... THEY'RE SORE LOSERS. So they mess with us till their time comes. Just my two cents. If that was incohereant sorry, slept 2 hours and just worked a 13 hour day. SLEEP is near, YAY!

Excellent! I think you just summed it up wonderfully. I totally agree. I am often a poor example, but I totally agree and I'm relying on Him & ask His help often.

Burning dried but not to dried BAY LEAVES as incense keeps evil spirits away also gets rid of stress and anxiety. Try it in your bedroom for the best nights sleep ever.
Dog trainer sonic devices affect them. The goverment special forces teams that kill them use sonic weapons to put them on the ground then walk over and execute with a headshot. Otherwise they are too dangerous and hard to kill.
They are Nephilim Monsters. Wolf-demons. The offspring of fallen angels and wolves. A race of monsters.
The name of Jesus has power over them
Applying the blood of Jesus to your house / property will keep them away
I heard a dark waters story where the man played preacher T.D Jakes preaching about Jesus loudly on his stereo system and the dogman couldn't handle the sound of it ( anoiting of the Holy Spirit ) and covered its ears in pain then left the area

Never interacted with dogmen up close and personal and definitely not in an attack type situation, but it is a predator. Predators generally have a pretty sensitive sense of smell and don't like pepper spray. It works with big cats and bears, even a small amount can dissuade them of course depends on how angry and close pepper spray is deployed contact might be made. When things go poorly getting out alive is the most important thing, everything is very quick to happen a few times in the big cat community you would hear of someone being killed even though they were armed, mind you they probably interacted with this cat daily and multiple times a day it could be that they missed the first shot or they didn't have time, pepper spray was a must. Something else I had was a 6D maglight, I figured if an arm was taken I might be able to prevent a crushing injury if the flashlight was there with my arm (hopefully holding onto it). Something else I would bring along is a crook ( a sheepherding staff but these were much beefier), this gave me a couple of options. First as an impact weapon, next most animals have a gag reflex you can (hopefully) insert the non-hook portion into the mouth and back them up or give yourself space to escape meanwhile the hook portion can be used in the mouth to prevent a crushing bite to a limb/appendage.
I did carry a firearm when doing my duties but also I kept a knife on my belt (also always carry a small pocket knife) if worst comes to worst I think that's what would have been in my hand first. There were little tricks we learned such as using a hand or fingers to shove the animals cheeks under it's teeth, holding down paws and rear legs but they just were so strong. To me on my back with a 300-600lb big cat mauling me I have lungs and spine in pretty close proximity using a firearm due to how close an animal may have been might not have been feasible or knocked from my hand really a whole myriad of things. What if I couldn't reach the firearm maybe it's on the small of the back or at a 4 Oclock position and I can't reach it. I learned something that if you survive the first 3 seconds of a big cat attack it was just playing, apex predators are serious business, so if it came down to it you use whatever a rock a piece of pipe or sharp shrapnel. Consider if say you are out hunting and fishing or just live really rural and you have DM a neck gaiter, I had one made of thick leather, I was fortunate and nothing happened but the thought was always there and you had to game plan it in your head.
This all happened 20 years ago and I am sure it's traumatizing, hopefully that was the one and only experience. I personally don't know much about what they are, but I will say prayer is a good thing, I have a feeling that yes they are flesh and blood there is more going on. Can't really put my finger on it but a real feeling I have even if it's flesh and blood there are too many incidents where very odd things happened. A spear is a fine weapon you have something there which can keep something at bay, giving you space or distance to extricate yourself safely also the shoe (bottom end ) can be used to backup an animal although having the pointy end pointed at you is dicey and would strongly discourage it.
