I heard this one yesterday, the two to four legs I personally have seen mind you only from eye shine at probably 850ft (actually went back to where I had my encounter (it's super odd everything felt more close perhaps I was a bit concerned). What I noticed is that they pull themselves with the front limbs and move even faster, and looking at the ski resort encounter the dm had an elevated position, while the deer had distance and a bit of an advantage.. denote it didn't run down the hill it makes sense again because animals with longer fore limbs tend to be a bit slower going down hill, it avoided that and paralleled running on the ridge. It's interesting it had the elevation, didn't play into it's weakness of going downhill and showed that abstract thinking is there.
In terms of abstract thinking I am referring to it doesn't have to directly chase the prey item instead it knows that the prey item is going in a certain direction and it's better to parallel than to be slowed down and catch up further along. I think it's a super interesting encounter I have seen animals that are threatened totally go next to people even wild animals. The encounter made sense from my point of view of knowing animals.
Edit: Animals that can go from four to two legs for motion is called facultative bipedalism
