What i hate about news stories on the tv or internet is that they are normally half or 3/4 truths, rarely ever completely accurate or truthful.

I live close to MT and I can tell you it is normal, sadly too normal that people getting attacked by grizzlies is not out of the norm. Around summer you will see ~ 1 attack per month then when they rut starts. Jesus it's all bad news. That western part of MT has a LOT of bears ID as well has it's share, even Eastern MT has bears, worst of all their GPS is all goofed because I had wander 60 miles or so and make it onto my property last year.
Edit: When a story just states canine, they can't figure out the canine and claim that the body is dragged beyond what a bear would drag that is a clear and obvious that something odd is going on. When the injuries might be described as punctures to the skull not a dog unless it's a grizzly ( a big stinking one) it's not that either unless it's a Jaguar then it's not a blackbear of mountain lion either. If the story talks about a person being bit say I dunno 48 inches off the deck and scratches to the bone .. then claim coyote another tell that it's BS. Basically the BS stories are pretty quick and easy to ferret out, the story and theory will not match up it'd be physically impossible for the suspected animal to do what is being said. Not many people have experience with predators or seeing the aftermath of a predator even a feral dog attacking a calf but those that do quickly find the holes in the BS stories.
As an example the school teacher in NC, crazy they can't figure it out then the young boy in Kentucky, mothertrucker can't figure out what drags a child 300+yds up hill, then there is a story of a young girl bitten on the shoulder probably 48 inches off the deck and had scratches to the bone (she survived) but they said closest looking thing is a coyote (BFS). Then last the woman iirc in kentucky also who was "attacked" and predated upon by her dogs, but at first they claimed a skull puncture then had to come back and "clean it up" that too is BFS.
