Hello, I was trying to submit my encounter via website but it wouldn't let me, so I decided to post here instead and hope someone knows how to get it into the database. I have never been a believer in Dogman, and I still am not- but I am willing to concede that the two animals I observed were incredibly anomalous. They could possibly have been an extremely large canine breed that I am unaware of, but considering I had perfect view and within relatively close range (50 feet or so) I doubt it.
Hello, I was reviewing your website out of curiosity after hearing it mentioned on Dixie Cryptid, and when I looked through the size comparison charts you have posted I realized I might have seen a Dogman about 20 years ago. It was the size comparison chart where you show a massive dog the size of a human being, and it instantly reminded me of an extremely strange and terrifying incident from when I was a teenager. This was about 2000, in Columbus Georgia- my friend's family's property ran along the edge of the thick woods, with Fort Benning wilderness on the other side. Four of us had gone into the woods behind his house to check out the old, dilapidated foundations of a small brick house that had once stood there. Suddenly, we heard a noise- I can't remember what it was that alerted us, and I don't want to try too hard to remember it and create a false memory. Whatever it was, it must have scared us, because we instinctively took cover wherever we could. I had the best line of sight to a small trail that ran through the woods and parallel to where we were hiding just fifty feet away, and to my amazement I saw the largest dog I have ever seen in my life. Then, shortly after that one came into view, a second, equally massive dog walked onto the trail. I have six years experience in the military training and operating at night hunting down bad guys, so I know how easily perception and memory can be skewed so I won't be offering any estimates on size- specially since I had no easy reference from which to estimate size from my observation point. All I clearly remember is that these animals were so large that I was instantly terrified, and I instinctively froze in place. Everyone else hiding must have had that same instinct, as not one of us moved or made a sound as the two massive animals walked by. My family has owned big dogs, including a full-bred Rottweiler that once saved me from a moose attack in Alaska- he was well over 200 lbs, and yet these two dog-like creatures easily dwarfed him. I don't recall the animals doing anything other than lazily sauntering along and disappearing down the trail. We waited until we were sure they were far enough gone to finally get up from our hiding places and run like hell back to the safety of the house. To be honest, I've never been a believer in Dogman despite having come across stories of them due to my interest in Bigfoot, but when I saw the size comparison chart on your site of a dog the size of a human being it instantly brought me back to being 16 years old and spotting those two massive creatures. I have to stress that they very much seemed like normal, if incredibly oversized, dogs with a very wolf-ish look. They did not look at all like the more traditional 'werewolf' Dogman walking on four legs- these were very obviously 'normal' canines if incredibly oversized. What's interesting to me is that I love dogs and have never been scared of even big dogs- and yet for some reason when I saw these animals I was instinctively terrified of them. There was absolutely nothing in me at the time that believed I was looking at a domesticated animal.
Thanks for your time.
