Incident From My Childhood I Only Just Realised Was Weird

Okay, first off to anyone that remembers me, hi! Left this place for a while (drove me nuts since I'm stuck in a city and can't investigate this kind of stuff) but I'm back again.
So, I had this thing happen to me as a child. My dad and I were out in the woods hiking when we saw this deer in the distance. It was sitting down, head up. Dad told me to get
really quiet and keep low, and we slowly moved towards this thing.
We got closer, and the closer we got, the more this thing didn't move. We were right on top of it and it just didn't move at all. Not even out of fear, it was stock still. We walked around it
and made noise and just nothing. It was dead, but was sitting bolt upright like it had just sat down to rest but wanted to keep a lookout and died like that. My father told me it must
have been poison from poachers, and me being a child no older than maybe 4 or 5 at the time just believed him because why wouldn't I, and we headed home.
Now I'm no hunting expert, I've never been hunting but I love reading all about outdoors stuff, hunting and that whole kind of culture, seems really fun to me. I have never heard of
a poison that kills in such a way that an animal just dies in the middle of what they're doing sitting up with their head in the air. I know there's some hunters here so hopefully if
it turns out there is, someone can set me straight on that.
My father apparently called someone, I can't remember who, it was either a friend or the police, could have even been both it was so long ago, but regardless the police got involved.
Here's where things get a little weird, but also a little hazy since it was so long ago. I was in the kitchen when the police arrived, a man and a woman. They had a conversation with
my father, but being so young all I could remember was that they threatened to take me away and put me in a orphanage (keep in mind my mother was at work and had absolutely
nothing to do with this deer, she hates hiking and outdoors stuff). I remember running out of the room crying and my father, who was always a hardass and a jerk, actually gave me
me a hug and said it'd be okay (which was weird for him).
Anyway, I can't remember anything after that but mum came home, dad went to see the police and it went to like some kind of informal court or some kind of informal meeting with
a judge or something, I don't know, but the judge apparently all but shouted the cops out the room. Apparently they were trying to pull my dad up on unpaid parking tickets that
were YEARS old.
I'm no police expert but I think years old parking tickets aren't enough to threaten taking away someone's kids and putting them in prison, even for a jerk cop. I know that
human stupidity knows no bounds but still.
Now, here's where things get odd. I had thought that was all it was for years. I'm 25 now, and I've learned that my father lied about a lot of stuff. He'd lie about things
so much that my parents lost friends over it apparently. He'd lied to me multiple times, and the only thing I know for sure is that he was in the military and where
he was born. That's pretty much it.
So the night before last, I thought about the way that deer died and how outright bizarre it was, and then I thought about the cops and my dad's reaction, and thought
about how much of a liar he actually was, and put them all together. I'm not saying that Medusa herself appeared, petrified a random deer and my dad was going to
get in trouble for seeing something he shouldn't or whatever, because I doubt a couple of random cops that stupid would even know about any of that and it's
really silly. But it is strange that the whole set of coincidences all led to my dad supposedly seeing a judge and everything getting dropped, and then we
don't hear a single thing about the deer or why it ended up like that.
Just something really, really weird that took me over 20 years to realise. Of course, I was really young at the time, so the details are hazy. I definitely remember the
