Anyone aware of sightings in or around Wayne's National Forest in Ohio?
I have a primitive camping trip planned in a month there and I was wondering, if sightings tend to be near population centers of humans what about national forests?
Granted, sightings occur near population centers due to more humans just being around but I wonder about the forests. Brings to mind the Missing 411 and the odd things reported.
Been eight years since I've went back packing, used to do several day long excursions with a friend a year, definitely will be exciting to get away from the cities and back out into nature.
I'll be bringing a camera just in case but unlike back when I used to back pack I now have a Flir Scout TK. It works wonders night and day when you need to see what might be around you.

Very interesting question Bryan, and it sounds like you have a great adventure ahead of you.
Check out Paulides' advice for hiking also.
Let us know if you find anything of interest.
The FLIR cam is a very good tool. I wish I could afford one.

The website dogmanencounters.com has a reported sighting from Athens County, and a reported sighting from Scioto County. Both counties have portions of Wayne National Forest within them. Also check the Ohio map section on the Cloaked Hedgehog site. Best of luck, bryanb.

I'm curious about results of the backpacking trip into Wayne National Forest. How about it, bryanb? I'll bet I'm not the only one here who would like to hear about it.

Hey, things went well! But to cut to the part everyone's interested in, no crytids encountered... sadly? Actually yeah, I wanted to put my flir to use. Haha
Had a blast despite the lack of actual hiking. The friends I got to go are not very much the outside type so distance was limited. For this reason I chose John's Creek trailhead, it's mainly a horse trail so it's easy going for the less experienced hiker which allowed everyone tho enjoy it. We hiked about 4.5 miles in until a couple people were at their limit so set up camp. People don't seem to realize their limit when you add equipment weight on your hike, my friend Seth was sweating like a pig.
Had one interesting encounter during the only night we camped. Some coyote got pretty close to camp around 1130pm. I was wanting to toss out some calls to try to call them in but everyone was freaked out over it so I didn't. Now most of them had maybe camped five times in their life and lived in the city their entire life. They could have sworn we were surrounded but they couldn't quite grasp the concept a single coyote can sound like several. Though I'd say there were about three of them just being the curious buggers they are.
All in all, I had a blast with friends and was a good first backpacking in like eight years. I do believe I'm going to make sure I do it every couple months, I miss the calmness from daily life.

bryanb, glad you had a good trip and thanks for sharing it with me. I know I could sure use some peace in my life right now, but for now I'll have to experience it vicariously through those of you fortunate enough to find it.

A good time with friends is always worthwhile. You did your part by getting out and searching for evidence. I'll give you and your friends an "A" for effort. Most of my Bigfoot research associates will hike all day, but refuse to sleep overnight in the forest. We all do what we can to research this phenomenon. Thank you for sharing with your colleagues here at NADP.
