I can't believe that in all these years and with all of the developments in camera tech, no one has come close to the 1967 P&G! It is interesting footage. I've been in Provo Canyon, as has EVERYONE in N Utah--all at once it seems. Place is way too crowded for my liking but plenty of activity and habitat up above in the Wasatch range, just out of reach of the throngs. It's pretty steep canyon too, most aren't clambering up the sides. I'd not be surprised if the vid was legit. I'd also not be surprised if it was faked. The guys reaction seemed a bit affected...IDK hard telling not knowing the guy.

I think it's legit there are many reports of BF throwing rocks and with amazing accuracy, even large rocks which humans would struggle with.

Today we have digital cameras with amazing lenses able to take amazing photos (i.e. Sony A9, A7S III, Nikon Z7, Canon EOS R,etc, etc). Then we have many cameras like the Go Pro Hero 9 than can record in 4K, cell phone cameras, trail cameras, Dash cameras, and Drones. Our camera technology today is GENERATIONS more improved, yet the best we have is a film from 50 years ago taken by a primitive movie camera with not even any sound. With that said, it's only a matter of time. We have a lot of situations were a bigfoot or dogman is crossing the road, or a dogman is eating a roadkill. One of these days, someone with a dash cam is going to get good footage. Same with all the drones, gopros, and cell phones that are out there. We also have thermal cameras, like this: Surely someone, somewhere, somehow, will be able to get some kind of better image or footage; then we don't have to depend on some grainy footage taken over 50 years ago.

That thermal drone would do the job nicely! Spendy piece of kit to lose in the night though--ouch! Yeah, it's only a matter of time til more good footage shows up--which will of course be considered a hoax.

Digital cameras honestly are great with all the correct conditions they basically try to match pixels to the nearest neighbor ( datagenetics.com/blog/may12018/index.html ) so we can have a bright background (eg snow) and now we have a dark subject all dark it's going to look rather black with nearly no details. I think that is why the PG film stands out the detail is very much there. Look I am all for videos and using whatever you got but unfortunately there will be limitations and more so when it's sudden, but still a lot can be gleaned from a video even be it behavior, reaction, action or general size of a subject it's still a valuable tool. I agree thermal and using a drone would be pretty good as a tactic, I remember commercial drones the US Navy runs similar ones they look like a large model helicopter but can go up to 50 miles. IIRC civilian usage is often for boundary lines of rural properties and land surveys also are piloted from several miles away I think 50mi as well iirc they have something like a 1 or 2 hour flight time and use a small jet engine.
