Found an interesting account (apparently true, from what I can determine), involving an aggressive upright canid that terrorized a US airbase in Germany after some drunks found and ‘mocked’ some sort of stone shrine. This mocking may have involved extinguishing or destroying candles, urinating or otherwise accomplishing some unspecified type of vandalism or defacement - the details are vague. But the accounts of are very clear about what happened after this. An interesting and frightening event. This is an animated video. www.youtube.com/c/WartimeStories/featured?disable_polymer=true&itct=CB8Q8JMBGAAiEwiEkLv145_vAhXq2BYJHfOGCPM%3DHope the link works. Stay sharp, 1SK

Interesting story, one that I've never heard before. The thing is, I don't think the weapons storage area was near the forested side of the base.

Right, most armories are centralized. But in hindsight, by ‘weapons’ there are also explosives.
Every base I’ve been on keeps explosive ordnance far away from anywhere, usually in earth-covered bunkers that were given nicknames of female anatomy; torpedos, missiles, bombs, mines, and anything else falling under explosive ordnance got stored out in the boonies. Ditto nuke bases, earthen covered bunkers out in the sticks, but with serious security forces, guard towers filled with shooters, minefield perimeters surrounded by concertina wired layers of fences, motion detector ‘perry field’ and other surveillance.
That type of weapon storage was always out in the middle of nowhere.
Small arms (guns, infantry/security kit) are normally held in an armory. Every armory I can recall was right in the mix, lots of other buildings nearby such as CIF, or gear issue, admin, sometimes even near command or comms.
Here’s a thought:
Any vets in the forum who were stationed there in ‘88? Would love to hear from you.

Interesting story, first some history of this specific werewolf legend in the beginning there is someone who was there in 1988 www.pitt.edu/~dash/werewolf.htmlSomethings I denote, there was multiple deer killed and some of the soldiers disturbed an animal feeding. Urinating is a common way to mark territory maybe there was a misinterpretation where the DM thinks it's being challenged. I have heard this in another encounter where a man would urinate outside or similar at their shed and a DM was in the area and would counter mark. It's pretty obvious that these things take things very personally and the smallest slight seems to provoke a more aggressive response. I have seen it with rather aggressive people who wanted to avoid conflict and if conflict was to be had then it should be then and there, where in the slightest real or perceived slight they will overreact. Basically the idea is if others know that the person is not playing and will do whatever they feel as a response people would be more apt to either stay away or just not interact with the person, it's a self defense mechanism of sorts. Now I wonder if that is what is going on here, you people disturb me during my meal then proceed to claim my territory as yours. I wonder if there was an attempt to access the facility in order to make a further point of "don't mess with me", which of course due to a military facility it's not exactly the place where everyone will lay down and take it. I don't hear of anything further so I am guessing that a smart creature would probably just avoid there initial plan of making a point; It could have been very different had it been just a city or civilian facility someone may have died.

Any vets in the forum who were stationed there in ‘88? Would love to hear from you. Stay sharp, 1Sk8 Would love to, but I was stationed at Clark Air Base in the Philippines from 85-90. Plenty of ghosts there, but no dogmen or sasquatch sightings. The Philippines does have have a legend of a bigfoot type creature called the Kapre, though.
