Are there feline type cryptids?
Are these jaguars that came up from lower parts of north america?
Perhaps a melanistic cougar?

I'll give it watch soon. We just recently heard of a sighting of a black cougar? here in Maine from the witness who is absolutely certain what she was looking at, was about 50 years ago though.

There are definitely black big cats in the USA. I have a gentleman who I know very well he knows his cats (he has several) and at the fence line of his property he spotted a black cat maybe 2 or 2.5 feet tall, round ears and a long tail (one thing is he mentioned it had a robust head) he immediately thought he had an escapee quickly he took stalk of his cats no one was missing. Now I want to say that some owners realize it's too much and will release near a sanctuary or whatever because then they assume the cat will be cared for but this particular person is a private owner doesn't buy cats from the US (usually) but has very specific things he wants and get's internationally. This happened iirc in 2008.
Personally I believe that yes there are relic populations of jaguars or something else out there, these have been sighted in the US for a LONG time for example Little House on the Prairie Laura writes about seeing a black panther. In the UK I believe they also have quite a few big cats and it's very hush .. hush like where they will make a comment there might be like 20 that's until someone does some math and denotes if these guys were released before and up to 1973 they are all dead being that the average life span in the wild is 6 years and we are looking at a few generations down the road of indigenous big cats. It's easy for govts to explain things as irresponsible owners but I will tell you when you spend say 3,000-74,000 dollars on just the cat and you spend easily 9000 dollars per year on feeding then factor in 500 dollars for a vet to just drive out and maybe 200,000+ dollars in fencing and an enclosure that is not something any responsible person would send out and often there is no time for vacations it's a full time job, it's not your house cat that a neighbor can throw some food in a bowl and fill up water for and if an accident happens the USDA will investigate and probably local LE.
Alright I will watch this now but thought I'd add a few points from a different perspective.
