Listening it's interesting, at least one, no two calls without the recorder talking. Let's see there is like a bit of oddness to the call the end has like a cackle or similar kind of close to what is on the NADP site. The length duration is interesting on similar calls, the first call didn't have that cackle it's like it starts as a vocalization then is like bark howling.. possibly more than one too.

People are capturing some very spooky-sounding stuff. The poster sounds genuinely frightened by it.
I've heard howling at my house in two different directions. Wish I had a recording of it. I never have anything with me to record when this stuff happens. A few years back I heard what I believe to be coyotes in a large number howling in the woods downhill and across from my house. Not a usual occurrence. Recently, and some times in the past, I hear large dogs (?) howling over the hill which is uphill from my house in the opposite direction. I don't even know who has big dogs in that direction. My neighbor has little yappy dogs that they let out to bark at me every time I go outside my house. It's not them. It is creepy to hear large dogs howling when I don't know of any large dogs. The only thing over that hill in close proximity is a pasture or field with nothing in it. There is a chicken farm past that where I've never seen a dog. If I walk outside and that crap's going on, I go back inside, usually with goosebumps on my arms.
Sorry, not very scientific, just what my gut tells me.

This is true big dogs do howl and sometimes it could sound odd. As an example this is a few Central Asian Shepards (big dogs). www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORx1IadrR0sImagine that with an echo and bouncing off of some natural features (eg canyons) I can just imagine.
